You’ve heard about the benefits of CBD for your pet, but what about CBG Oil for dogs & cats? Although they are both cannabinoids from the hemp plant, they do have distinguishing benefits.

What is CBG?

Cannabigerol (CBG) is one of several cannabinoids found in hemp and cannabis plants. This compound is a precursor to other cannabinoids like THC, CBD, and CBN. You can think of CBG as the stem cell of cannabinoids. It’s abundant in young plants, and it transforms into other cannabinoids as the plant matures.

CBGA, or cannabigerol acid, is called the mother of all cannabinoids. That is because other cannabinoids like CBD first start as CBGA.

As the hemp plant matures, these CBGA cannabinoids evolve, and very few (typically 1% or less) remain as cannabigerol. It is much more likely for CBGA to convert other cannabinoids such as CBDA. Once heat and light interact with CBDA, it loses its acidity and becomes CBD.

In simple terms, it is rare for CBGA to mature into CBG. However, due to new technology, manufactures have been able to manipulate hemp plants to make this conversion more frequent.

Much like all other cannabinoids in hemp, CBG interacts with your endocannabinoid system (ECS). We’re sure you have heard the stories about consumers using cannabis and getting sleepy or hungry. Those effects are small examples of cannabinoid interactions with the ECS.

The ECS is a complicated system that helps to regulate many essential functions such as digestion, sleep, mood, anxiety, and more.

Neither CBD nor CBG induce psychoactive effects. They retain all of the benefits of hemp, without the sensation of getting “high.” That makes both CBG and CBD superior for consumers who do not want that feeling.

CBG vs. CBD: What’s the Difference?

The critical differences between CBG and CBD are still being studied. However, certain things are relatively clear. CBG has a reputation of being more stimulating than CBD, making it a great choice to promote and be a catalyst for energetic advantages.

Studies have also shown that CBG can hydrate skin, while CBD does the opposite —it can reduce oily skin. CBG is also being implemented to reduce intraocular eye pressure.

How Can CBG Oil Help Dogs?

CBG oil offers impressive perks for your canine friend! Like CBD, CBG interacts with your dog’s endocannabinoid system (ECS) to improve cell communication and regulate internal functions.

Enhances Mental Balance

One of CBG’s extraordinary benefits is its ability to increase alertness and promote mental balance. This cannabinoid has a more stimulating effect than CBD, so it’s useful for daytime applications. Dogs that get sleepy from CBD may find CBG to be a more energizing alternative. Pet parents nationwide are using CBG to combat their dog’s fear, nervousness, and gloomy mood.

Promotes Immunity

CBG may help strengthen your dog’s immune system. The compound’s antioxidant properties are likely to support your furry friend’s immunity.

Aids Mobility

Studies regarding CBG’s anti-inflammatory properties are becoming more abundant. The cannabinoid is known to calm discomfort, allowing your dog to get back on its paws.

Supports Urinary Regulation

If your dog has frequent “accidents” on your carpet, CBG may be able to save the day. A 2015 study related CBG to bladder contractions in mice and people.

Promotes Digestive Function

CBG can be helpful for your dog’s tummy too. It may soothe digestive issues caused by unhealthy swelling. One rodent study took a close look at the effects of CBG in treating mice with symptoms of inflammatory bowel disease.

Fights Bacteria

Studies point to the anti-bacterial properties of cannabinoids. This trait lends to CBG’s potential as a topical remedy for canine skin afflictions.

Stimulates Bone Growth

A recent study has shown the connection between CBG and age-related bone loss. There are several cannabinoid receptors in your skeletal system. CBG can influence these receptors.

Intraocular Eye Pressure

Glaucoma is a disease that damages the optic nerve connecting the eyes and brain. Chronic pressure in the eye cavity often causes the condition. According to feline research, CBG has an interesting effect on ocular tension and pressure – the two critical risk factors of glaucoma.

Works Synergistically With CBD

When CBG and CBG are consumed together, both cannabinoids increase each other’s efficiency. This teamwork is known as the entourage effect.

Is CBG Oil Safe for Dogs?

Yes. You can rest assured that your dog won’t suffer any major ill effects from consuming CBG oil. Potential minor side effects include a change in appetite, diarrhea, or dry mouth, all of which typically disappear once your pet has gotten used to the dosage.

Every ingredient in the formula (including CBG) is well-tolerated by canines. Since CBG is non-intoxicating, your dog won’t get “high” from ingesting the product.

Is CBG Oil Legal?

Indeed it is! Per the 2018 Farm Bill, CBG can be legally extracted from hemp plants. CBG is not listed as a controlled substance, and its sale is legal in the US.

Final Thoughts

If you and your dog are ready to try something new, CBG is waiting for your trial! CBD provides some fantastic benefits for your dog, and CBG is a phenomenal addition to the team. You may find that CBG may be helpful for particular situations like incontinence and drowsiness. CBG for pets is the new craze that’s got everyone talking, and after reviewing the research, we think the hype is justified. Have your dog try some and put it to the test!

Wow!! I got this for my 6 year old Yorkie that has been shedding a lot recently two weeks ago and I am so happy. He has a lot more energy during the day and his coat is shinier and seems to have more volume. This paired with the shampoo have done wonders to my favorite Yorkie. Thanks Holistapet! I can’t wait to try out your other products. I highly recommend anyone thinking about getting this to try it out. Order came quickly too! Can’t beat that.

I start buying this for my two cats. One of them is 14 and we noticed that he had some pain/inflammation in his hips while we touched him. Also, he had hard times to jump on high furniture. I start giving him 11 drops with wet food in am once a day. The difference was immediate. He moves better ( jumps like rabbit 🙂 and it seems like inflammation in his hips is gone.
The other cat was always very anxious with sensitive stomach. It also helped a lot. Give a try. It has no smell… which is good for cats.
